Route du Rhum Boats At Les Voiles

Several participants from The 2018 Route du Rhum – destination Guadeloupe will be navigating the turquoise waters of the Caribbean in April.

Expected in the Rhum Mono category is Marseille architect Nicolas Magnan at the helm of Javelot, which took 8th place after the 30-day transatlantic crossing in the recent Route du Rhum. Their journey was made difficult by bad weather conditions, but this was a good showing for their first entry in the race.
Class winner in the Rhum Multi category, the 15-meter trimaran Olmix, whose French captain Pierre Antoine offered emergency help to Lalou Roucayrol after he capsized in mid-Atlantic, could well be racing against the 50’ catamaran Avocet 50 (Ecole Diagonale for Citoyens du Monde during the Route du Rhum), which came in second in that class.
They will also recognize another tirmaran, the 50’ Rayon Vert, aboard which Alain Delhumeau finished seventh in the Route du Rhum in the same category, along with Bertrand De Broc’s catamaran, Pampero (Cre’actuel during the RDR) in 10th place, and Christian Guyader with Guyader Gastronomie in 11th place, but which stood out last year by winning first place in the IMRR Multihull class at Les Voiles de St. Barth Richard Mille.
Also expected is Gilles Lamiré aboard French Tech Caraibos, who took fourth place in the Route de Rhum Multi50 category, and will sail in Les Voiles in the IMRR Multihull.
